A 27-year-old woman was stabbed to death in her Ahvaz home by her own brothers amid a rise in "honor" killings.
Local sources reported that the brothers entered the woman's house and inflicted multiple fatal stab wounds.
The men also assaulted the woman's husband when he tried to intervene, according to Rokna news agency.
No details are available about the exact reason behind the murder.
This incident marks the second reported honor killing in Khuzestan province within the past week.
Rokna news agency reported on April 7 the murder of a 21-year-old girl by her father in a village in southern Abadan.
Shargh newspaper, in a report citing official statistics last year, reported that in less than two years, at least 165 women in Iran were killed by a male member of their family, 41 of which were around the national capital, Tehran.
