Samereh Mokhtarpour, a 38-year-old woman from northwestern Salmas, was killed by her husband.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Samereh endured years of domestic violence.

Her tumultuous journey began at the age of 14 when she fell in love with a boy named Akbar. However, due to familial objections, their relationship didn't materialize until she turned 20, only to eventually end.

Despite facing familial challenges, she pursued her education and was accepted into the law department at Urmia University. However, family pressures persisted, prompting her to flee with a man named Bahman Meighani.

Escaping her family's harassment did not alleviate her troubles. Samereh's relationship with Bahman was marred by violence and control.

She was isolated from her family for two years until Bahman's family ejected her and their child from their home.

Forced to return to her family, she eventually found refuge with her mother and later established a welding shop in Urmia to support herself and her child.

Despite her resilience, Samereh faced relentless abuse from Bahman, who doubted her fidelity and subjected her to physical violence.

This abuse remained hidden from her family until the day of her aunt's funeral when Bahman attacked her in public.

When Samereh graduated in law, Bahman prohibited her from practising and compelled her to work as an accountant in a quarry company.

Unbeknownst to Samereh, Bahman had a violent past, including a stabbing incident that left a man severely injured.

This dark history resurfaced when Bahman demanded money from Samereh to settle his past crime, culminating in her death.

On March 30, Bahman instructed her to sell her car to pay off his debt, but Samereh refused.

Bahman sought funds from his mother, but she refused, insisting that Samereh was financially stable and should provide the money herself.

Samereh's lifeless body was discovered the following day, bearing marks of injury and strangulation.

Bahman has confessed to her murder during police interrogation and is currently in custody.
