The icon, 57, opened up Paisley Park and revealed how he harnessed a more “experimental” vibe for the album and shared how he keeps his artistic juices flowing well into his nearly four-decades-long career. (HITNRUN is his 38th studio album.) “It’s something you grab from the air, tap into,” he told EW. “Science can’t explain it….Everything is a grid. You have to build off that.” The conversation also turned to some of Prince’s favorite musicians now: he sounded off on forebears like Joni Mitchell to a younger generation of musicians like Willow Smith.
