It's a site out of the ordinary but it's true. Gisele Marie, a Muslim woman who wears a burqa, has been fronting her brothers' band Spectrus since 2012.

She is the granddaughter of German Catholics, and converted to Islam several months after her father passed away in 2009.

She plays her Gibson Flying V electric guitar during a concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

"People do not expect to see a Muslim woman who uses a Burqa, practices the religion properly and is a professional guitarist who plays in a Heavy Metal band, so many people are shocked by it," said Gisele.

"But other people are curious and find it interesting, and others think that it is cool, but definitely, many people are shocked," she added.

This woman broken all stereotypes people hold of women in burqas. She plays the lead guitar in the band and continues to surprise people with her skills.

hafsa | 8 years ago | Reply Islam is not a joke this woman is ridiculing hijab. Some of you might condemn what she's doing than you should question your imaan. Islam is pure and a good way of life. We don't listen to music and there is a very good reason for that. She needs to go back to the religion of her ancestors cos there is no place for people like her in islam. And yes i am judging her. It's because we keep silent and look the other way that's why this ummah is in shambles. To her I would like to say take your nikaab off and get ready for jahannam. And as for the rest of you if you agree with her then be prepared to join her in jahannam cos u no better than she is. She's a kafir ND that's all I have to say

Bravo to this lady she is sending so many messages: To the western world: For her the Burqa is a dress of her choice that she exercises as a moslem woman and not an imposition by fear or subjugation as commonly believed. She can be anyone / a talented artist / rockstar / homemaker and her wearing the Burqa should have no play in that. To those who think the Burqa is not cool: She can be cool and happening even in the Burqa At the end of the day its what she can deliver i.e. her talent that matters and not the way she dresses. To the Moslem stereotypes: They should be proud of her

Is it not time; that we let people wear or not wear whatever they want and choose or not choose whatever ever vocation they want.

Zain | 8 years ago | Reply Plz publish this... Playing a guitar while wearing a burqa is far better than not wearing a burqa. We all have weaknesses and need a way to express ourselves. This is her way. It's ok, and I am sure she knows, as a believer where the boundaries lie and I am sure she knows her eventual direction. The rest is in ALLAH's hands. Muslims should not condemn her.
