Jeremy Corbyn has never been considered a natural when it comes to delivering one-liners in the House of Commons.

But 13 months after becoming Labour leader, the latest PMQs session suggested the MP for Islington North may finally have got the hang of deadpan quips in the chamber - with a jibe at the Prime Minister's expense that even she had to laugh at.

Mr Corbyn quizzed Ms May on her strategy for dealing with the Europe in the wake of the EU referendum, asked her to guarantee Britain will stay in the single market.

The PM responded by saying she wanted to do what was best for UK business, but was decidedly non-committal, saying: “What we want to see is the best possible arrangement for trade with and operation within the single European Market for businesses in goods and services here in the United Kingdom."

Rising to his feet, a laconic Mr Corbyn instantly fired back: “I thought for a moment the Prime Minister was going to say 'Brexit means Brexit' again.”

The jibe prompted roars of laughter from the across chamber, at which point the Labour leader added the quip: “I'm sure she'll tell us one day what it actually means.”

Even Ms May could be seen letting out a hearty chuckle.
