A chief deputy US marshal had sex with women who he invited to his government office in exchange for prime parking spaces outside the building, according to a report by the Justice Department Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

An investigation into the unnamed marshal was launched after the office received a tip that he had been “engaging in sexual activity with numerous different women within government space”.

“The OIG also found that in connection with his personal relationships, the CDUSM [chief deputy US marshal] allowed multiple unauthorised non-government employees whom he was dating to park their personal vehicles within and in front of government property,” the report reads.

The marshal attempted to interfere with the investigation into his activities and had contacted the women and “encouraged them not to disclose to the OIG any information concerning their sexual activity within the government space”.

The report also said the marshal had shared “non-public information” with a reporter about a “fugitive matter”.

The man will not be prosecuted, but it is not clear if he is still in his job.

The US Marshals Service is the oldest American federal law enforcement agency.
