AGRA: The district and session judge of Aligarh has ordered an inquiry into a bizarre incident of a peon serving water to a lady civil judge after spitting in the glass. The incident, which happened a week ago, came to light after a video which caught Vikas Gupta, a fourth class employee, in the act was widely shared online. Gupta was immediately suspended.
Confirming the incident, district and session judge PK Singh said an inquiry has been marked to a senior judicial officer, who has been asked to submit the report within a month.
He told TOI, “Appropriate action will be taken against the employee after the inquiry.”
Sources said the lady civil judge was suspicious of the peon’s activities, but didn’t have any proof. She therefore decided to put a CCTV camera in her chamber and caught him while he spat in a glass before serving her. She has submitted the video CD to her seniors as a proof.
The president of the class IV employees’ union, Uma Shankar Yadav admitted that this act was absolutely “wrong” and “unacceptable”. He said he got to know that Gupta’s mental state was not all right, as he had been harassed over the last two months.
