"Intimate Audrey": Why the Hepburn exhibition in Brussels is a must-see

"Intimate Audrey" is the name of the exhibition dreamed up by her son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer. Opening its doors to Brussels, the city in which Audrey Hepburn was born in 1929, the actress' life is charted through rare photographs, family objects and poignant, personal accounts, in an exhibition that tells of the woman, at once sensitive and loving, behind a true face of Hollywood.

On May 4, 1929, just 90 years ago, Audrey Hepburn came into the world in Brussels. She would go on to become one of the most recognisable faces in film, and to marry actor Mel Ferrer, with whom she had a son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer. "Intimate Audrey" is his tender homage to the Audrey he knew at home, at once maternal, sensitive and socially engaged. Across 8,600 square feet, a collection of meticulously selected objects and photographs will be put on display, adorning the halls of the Vanderborght building in Brussels, tracing the life of Audrey Hepburn, from her debuts as a ballerina, to her meteoric rise to fame, more personal moments with Mel and Sam, and even her UNICEF campaigns. This exhibition is a rare lifting of the veil shrouding the life of the so revered star.

It's worth noting that all of the profits from ticket sales will be donated to EURORDIS - Rare Diseases Europe and to the Brugmann and Bordet hospitals in Brussels.
