Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney has turned his hand to curation, working with daughters Stella and Mary to put together The Linda McCartney Retrospective, a new photography show opening at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Gallery on 5 July.

Compiling Linda’s work as one of the UK’s most admired rock’n’roll photographers of the 1960s with more intimate and personal account of family life within the McCartney clan, the show has already been staged in Vienna, Montpellier, and Seoul, but this first-ever British incarnation is set to feature what the gallery describes as “a wealth of ephemera and archive material,” that has never been seen by the public before.

Kelvingrove Gallery states that The Linda McCartney Retrospective “will feature a section dedicated to the photographs Linda took in Scotland alongside the themes of the sixties, family life, self-portraits, nature, social commentary and the processes and techniques Linda used as a photographer.”

In addition to shots of the Fab Four, viewers will get to glimpse at photos of everyone from blues legend B.B. King to guitar god Jimi Hendrix.

The news is also a perfect excuse – not that you ever actually need one, by the way – to get Silly Love Songs by Wings (the band Paul and Linda formed after the dissolution of the Beatles) on full blast right this second.

The Linda McCartney Retrospective runs until 12 January 2020.
