Yellow Submarine, Hey Jude, Here Comes the Sun, Let It Be and Come Together have all achieved cult status. In 1960, in Liverpool, Paul McCartney founded the band with John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Together, they changed the face of pop music and culture forever. In total, 12 albums and some 200 songs were recorded over just ten years. Racking up an impressive amount of awards (including a slew of Grammys), they soon reached cult status. On Paul McCartney's 78th birthday, we are looking back over the career of the legendary musician in photos.
