Group of good Samaritans help stop moving vehicle after woman suffers medical episode in Boynton Beach
The Boynton Beach Police Department is searching for a group of good Samaritans who stopped a moving car after a woman had a medical emergency while driving.On May 5, a woman suffered a medical episode and was seen by her co-worker slumped over the steering wheel, according to police. The co-worker then ran into the road to stop traffic as the car slowly moved into the intersection. The co-worker got the attention of other motorists and they came together to stop the car, use a dumbbell to smash a rear window, and move the car into a nearby parking lot.A nurse who was in the parking lot had called 911 and provided medical attention until the fire department arrived, police said.WATCH: Air traffic controller guides passenger to safe landing at PBIA after pilot has medical emergencyPolice shared the video in the hopes of honoring the people in the video who got out of the car to help the woman and to reunite them.Davita Peele was one of those good Samaritans. At one point in the video you see the door open in this white car directly in front of Peele.. she said two kids were about to get out."They're nervous and scared and I'm like, just close your door," Peele said. After directing them to stay put … she directed traffic. "I got out of my car because people started to blow through the light change and people didn't see what was going on so I'm like ok just go around don't go this way, go that way," she said.Peele is wearing her uniform in the video, after a long day of delivering mail for the U.S. Postal Service. "I had just got off of work so I was like, let me stop at Home Depot because usually, I would've been in that straight lane going home," she said.
