The Hinoyama Park is a beautiful Tulip garden and a famous place to visit in Japan. Located in Shimonoseki city of Yamaguchi prefecture, the park was opened in 2009 and is a part of Setonaikai National Park. Every year the park gets decorated with thousands of colorful Tulips along with other seasonal flowers which offers some spectacular views to its visitors.
These tulips were given as a present from Istanbul, Turkey to Japan. Hence, the park resembles the sign of friendship between Turkey and Japan.
Apart from Tulips being the main attraction, during Spring Cherry blossom and Violas creates an eye catching atmosphere in the park. For flower lovers and photographers this is a perfect place to spend some quality times on a sunny day. There is a viewing deck, eating area and souvenir shop on the hill top where you can enjoy your time at your pace.
From the hill top you will get a stunning view of the park with nicely designed flowerbed which represents the Bosphorus Strait of Istanbul. You can also enjoy the view of Kanmon bridge which connects Honshu and Kyushi islands. For more better scenic view, you can ride a cable car and go all the way up to the 268 meter highest peak. From there you can enjoy the view of Seto Inland Sea and the Sea of Japan along with the bridge and park.
Like day time, during evening to night hours, this place also offers majestic view. Because of the exceptional panoramic night time view of the surroundings, the place earned the title as “10 million dollars view” and hence become one of the best place to visit in Japan among travelers.
How to visit this flower park?
By car from Yamaguchi Ube airport it takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach the park. By train, bus and then Hinoyama ropeway it takes between 2 and 3 hours which includes a 30 minutes foot walk from the ropeway to the park. If you use train, bus and ropeway it is between 1200 yen and 2000 yen one way.
From JR Shimonoseki station it is about 15 minutes by train and then use the ropeway. It is about 600 yen one way.
Hinoyama Park – Entry Fees and Address
The admission fee to enter the park is 520 yen for adults. For Children it is 260 yen. Parking on the spot is free. Ropeway is also free. The park opens at 8:00 and closes at 23:00. Ropeway is from 10:00 to 17:00.

When to visit Hinoyama Park?
The best time to visit Hinoyama Park is during Spring season. Between early and mid of April is the flower blooming time. For Azaleas early May is ideal for visiting. To enjoy the most from park it is recommended to visit the spot between 2nd April to 10th April when you can enjoy the Cherry blossom and Tulips together.

Some handy tips before visiting this garden are – Check the weather in advance before visiting the park. A sunny weather with clear sky is highly recommended. Visit the place at noon hour get the best experience of the park. During noon time under the full sunlight, the flowers color is the most beautiful.
