Nigerian Government Rescues Some Of Kidnapped Female Students Of Federal University Gusau

SaharaReporters had reported how some gunmen suspected to be terrorists kidnapped some students of the school.

 

The Nigerian government on Thursday facilitated the rescue of some of the kidnapped female students of the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State.

This was confirmed by one of the victims’ relatives to SaharaReporters but he could not state the exact number of those who were rescued.

Also, the rescue of the students was announced during a meeting between the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Betta Edu and the survivors.

The rescue is coming about two weeks after the incident, as sources confirmed that some victims are still in the terrorists’ den.

“The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Betta Edu Interacts with rescued kidnapped Students of the Federal University Gusau; reaffirms Government commitment to rescue all the remaining captives unhurt,” the Nigerian Television Authority reported.

SaharaReporters had reported how some gunmen suspected to be terrorists kidnapped some students of the school.

The gunmen invaded the students’ residence at Sabon-Gida identified as Nazeer Sabon-Gida and took away some female students of the school, whose number could not be ascertained.

A few hours later, the Nigerian Army announced that it had rescued six of the students after a gun battle with the terrorists.

Giving an update on the matter, the state police command spokesman Yezid Abubakar also confirmed that not all of the kidnapped students were rescued by the Army.

A source in the university students' union had also said the union had identified no fewer than 30 students who were abducted by terrorists during the invasion.
