We can see that the expected years of schooling in Africa varies a lot by region. The Sahel region has the lowest and some of the lowest expected years of schooling in the world. The higher expected years of schooling can be found in northern and southern Africa.

Keep in mind though, that this doesn’t necessarily say something about the quality of the education.

Tunisia has the highest expected years of schooling in Africa, 15.4 years. Mauritius (15.2) is second and Algeria (14.6) is third.

The lowest numbers can be found in South Sudan (5.5), Niger (7.0), Djibouti and Mali (7.4).
